Grandma's Funeral

Well it happened. My Grandma Nelson passed away on September 21, 2010 peacefully in her home. My dad called me shortly after 9:00 that morning and gave me the news. Even though we new it was coming and we are so happy for her, it has still been hard. Even though I know I will see her again it is still hard. I know that we are told this life is short but it sure feels like an eternity before I will see her again.

As I said in my post before about my Grandma she is the best example of what a person should be like in this life. She loved her Savior with all her heart. She was an example to me up until her passing. When I was visiting with her a few weeks before she passed away she had me fill out her tithing check and fast offering. She wanted to make sure that she was a full tithe payer and that she was in good standing with the Lord. She didn't want anything to hold her back. She was so ready to see my Grandpa, her parents, and her brother and sister that had gone before her. How can I not be excited for her.

I just feel there is something missing without her here. I won't hear her telling me how she loves my smile. She always would tell me how when I was born she was so nervous to hold me. My mom had me in a clinic and took me home 2 hours after I was born. My grandma had never held a newborn baby that young. When she had her babies they didn't let them hold them right away. Anyways she said when I came home I was so alert and looking at everything. Not long after I got home I started smiling and I haven't stopped since. She could not believe that a baby so young was smiling. She always called me her smiling Tammykins. I will miss how she made everyone feel like they were so loved and that everyone was her favorite. That is a rare quality that not many people possess.

I can't remember if this one was just after she got baptised or on her wedding day.

Their cute family outside their home in Paul, Id.

Grandma swimming in the lake at her sister cabin in Wisconsin. Grandma was always young at heart! Another one of her favorite pass times was swinging.

We didn't' take to many pictures of the funeral. It's hard to know what is appropriate.

Me and my favorite cousins. Michele, Becky, and Kirsten.

This picture is my mom with her sister Judy(far right) Grandma's sister Virgina and her 2 daughters Barb and Kathy (left and second from the left) at the cemetery the next day.

Saying good-bye was difficult, but I will be fine. I know Grandma is in good hands and so am I.
