Zion

Shall we all gather in Zion? I think we shall. What a beautiful place Zion National Park is. The kids and I had never been to Zion, so we thought it would be a fun place to go for a little vacation. We didn't quite make it for spring break but we thought the kids wouldn't get too far behind missing a couple days of school. It was well worth the trip. We have so many beautiful things to see in Utah and with the economy the way it is we can't afford to go other places so why not see what we have in our great state!

The drive down was great, can't you tell. The DS tired Ryan right out!

We got there Sunday night so this picture is the next morning along a Parus trail.

Stopping for a little snack.

Our camp site was right by the river. I loved sleeping at night to the sound of the water rushing by.

Cars!! Those and the DS were life savers.

Is it a potato? Nope it's a rock. Sara came home with quite the collection of rocks. How long do I have to let her keep them?

After our bike ride and a little lunch we went to the museum and watched a video on how Zion National Park was made. It was a really informative video. By the time we got out though it had started raining.

So back to our trailer we tried to go. We had to wait for the bus to take us back. We did take a drive up to the tunnel. That was a neat thing to see too.

That night we made a pizza in our dutch oven. We were so excited for it but when we bit into it not so good. I'm new at the dutch oven thing and I guess I didn't store it properly. So it had a funny smell to it and when the food was cooked in it, it took on the smell. So I had to run to the little store right out side the park and bought ramen noodles. Yummy! Not really, but Ryan was happy!! Here I am making the noodles.

Breakfast Tuesday morning. Mmmmm, bagels and powdered doughnuts!!

I think this was the 3 prophets. Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

The lower emerald pools. The waterfall is from the middle emerald pools just above.

We were at Zions lodge trying to get a picture of this nut.

This is just below Angel's landing.

Same place.

We are at the trail head that leads into the Narrows.

This is along that trail.
If you noticed Jakob was not with us. That morning he was having some stomach issues. Probably from our delicious pizza the night before. So he stayed at the trailer. I think he had more fun there watching movies, sleeping and reading his book.
Like I said before it was so much fun. If you haven't been there before I recommend it. It is such a beautiful place. I see why they named it Zion!

Easter

Since we didn't have church on Easter this year I had the kids wear their Easter cloths to church the week before. I don't know why I bothered with any thing for Ryan. You wouldn't know looking at him but just seconds before he was throwing the hugest tantrum over wearing a shirt with a collar and a tie. I can't remember what I did to get this picture out of him but as soon as the camera clicked he was tearing at that tie to get it off.

We had a really fun Easter this year. The festivities started on Saturday night with the coloring of the eggs.

One of the eggs cracked and so Jakob wanted do an experiment with it. He put it into every color of die that we had to see what it would look like in the end.

I think it turned out pretty cool.

Jake is at the age of not believing in the Easter bunny, tooth fairy or Santa Clause any more. So the Easter bunny showed him. His basket was hidden in his bathroom behind the towels. It took Jakob 3 hours to find it.

Jakob and Sara are also going without candy this year. It was their New Years resolution for 2010. They are still going strong. So instead of candy in their Easter eggs they got money. I think the were more excited over the money then they ever were over candy!

Later in the day we had dinner at Steve's parents house. After dinner and conference we had then annual Easter egg hunt in the back yard. Not everyone was there but the kids still had a blast.

I had got some Mexican Easter eggs that are filled with confetti. Once the kids found out what was in them they were smashing them on every ones heads.

Oh what do I say about this picture. I think it speaks for its self. My son is a goof ball!!!!!
