Valentine's Day

We had a fun Valentine's Day this year. We celebrated on Saturday since the 14th was on Sunday. Kept with our tradition of take out from Olive Garden. The kids think it is great to have the table set all nice and that they get to eat Olive Garden. It is a family favorite. I love not having to cook or deal with the crowds at all the restaurants. But most of all I love celebrating the day of love with those I love the most in this world!!!

Happy Birthday Jakob

Last week was another fun filled birthday week in our household. Jakob turned 11. Yep that's right I have an 11 year old. I can not believe it. He should not be this old. I'm so grateful to have such a good son. Any time I ask him to help me around the house is does it so quickly. Most of the time I only have to ask once. He is the best babysitter ever. His little brother adores him.

We started out his birthday week at Grandma and Grandpa's to celebrate his birthday and Zack Effron's, oh I mean Sheldon's birthday.

I tried to do Ryan's hair spiky that day and this is what it looked like at the end of the day. Great face huh!

Breakfast in bed.

We went to The Pizza Factory for dinner. I'm not a huge fan of pizza but I love their bread sticks.

Me and my boy.

We told Ryan to lean in for the picture. He leaned in alright.

We had the best waiter that night. He over heard us saying it was Jakob's birthday and so he brought us this huge cookie and ice cream for free. I had mentioned that Ryan is lactose intolerant so he put the ice cream on the side. After dinner we went bowling at Fat Cats. Jakob said it was the best birthday ever.

History Fair and Jazz games

Jakob has been doing Jr Jazz again this year. Along with playing basketball they give the boys 2 tickets to a Jazz game. So last week Jakob and Steve were able to go. They had a good time despite they were in the last row in the nose bleed section on folding chairs.

This year in school Jakob got to choose between a science fair project or literature project or a history project. He chose the History. It was a lot of fun for him to research the history of video game consoles. I didn't realize how many there were. If you enlarge this picture look at the guy on the right. He invented the Atari (I think that's what he did) any ways Steve's mom went to school with him and knew him. I thought that was pretty cool.

Sleepy Head

About a month ago we quit giving Ryan naps. As much as I loved that break I got in the middle of the day we had to give them up. He wasn't going to sleep until almost 11:00 and that was after putting him to be around 9:30 or 10:00. Ryan would lay in his bed and call out to me or Steve to come in his room every 5 minutes. It got old real fast.

So I thought we would stop the naps and put him to bed at 8:00. Oh it's been so nice. I put him in bed and I don't hear anything most nights until 8:00 in the morning.

Now to explain the picture. I had a meeting the other night and Jakob had a basketball game. There was about 20 minutes that neither of us would be home and it was close to Ryan's bed time. Before Steve left with Jakob he put Ryan in his high chair with a granola bar to snack on until I got home. Oh and he wasn't alone Sara was with him. Anyways, since he is no longer getting his nap he is awfully tired by the end of the night. When I got home from my meeting this is what I found. Such a cute little stinker!
