Birthdays

Yep it is that time of year again. That time of year that I have no control over.  I am another year older and I'm not very happy about it.  I don't usually have a very hard time with birthday's but this one I did.  I have a hard time believing that I am as old as I am.  When I was younger I remember thinking that people were old when they were at the age I am now.  I don't feel old so why do I have to say that I am (cough) 40!
The morning of my dreaded birthday I awoke to none other but the Grimm reaper with my breakfast in hand.  I didn't know if I should laugh or cry.  I went out to our living room and my tomb stone awaited me along with black tears falling from our ceiling.
The rest of the day was not so bad.  I spent some time with my sister and my parents.  When the kids got home from school we headed to Black Island Farms.  Then off to dinner at the Olive Garden.  We waited forever for our food.  By the time we got it I wasn't thinking of taking pictures, we just wanted to eat.  Because we had to wait so long our server gave us a free dessert.  And yes that too was gone in a matter of seconds.  The pumpkin cheese cake does not disappoint.  We then headed home for more dessert.  Chocolate cupcakes.
Over all it was a great day, thanks to my sweet husband who knows how to make everything fun.

A week later it was Steve's turn to celebrate.  The celebrating started the Sunday before his birthday with a birthday dinner at his parents.  For his birthday he didn't want to do much.  I think his age is catching up to him.  =)  I made him some pumpkin chocolate chip muffins for breakfast.  He and I went to lunch at Rumbi.  A little shopping after lunch for a birthday shirt or two.  That night for dinner he wanted Beef enchilada's with a Mexican salad.  To end the day we had a pumpkin cake for dessert.

Projects

Sara had to make a haunted house for school this year.  We had a hard time coming up with ideas of what we should do.  The only thing she wanted was to have a skeleton somewhere in the house.  After playing around a little she decided to put him in the chimney and then the ideas started to come.  We could do a Nightmare before Christmas house.  Sara was very happy with the final product.

This past Labor day my friend Brandy and I made our annual trip to Swiss Days.  I found the frame below for a project I have had in mind for a while.  I gathered pictures of our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents and put them in the frame.  I also revamped some old frames of mine to add a little more to the wall.  I think it turned out pretty good.  I love looking at our FAMILY every time I go downstairs.

Fall

Oh I love this time of year.  I love the change of the seasons. I love being able to open my windows at night to cool off the house.  The smell of the fresh air.  The anticipation of all the fun holidays ahead.  Last week we went for a Sunday drive to enjoy the beautiful colors of fall.
